11th International Indonesia Forum Conference
Stakeholders in Indonesian Growth: Sharing the Natural and Social Environment in Indonesia
Indonesia is on the trajectory to emerge as a regional power in various ways. As it politically matures as a democracy and as a regional power/economic center, it is shaped and carried by various stakeholders. The people, and therefore the citizens, of the Indonesian state are very distinct, and their activities throughout the archipelago contribute to an inherent Indonesian wealth in a pluralist environment.
However, this growth also raise questions of fairness and inclusiveness to make sure that the natural and social environments remain stable and protected. Although the progress of Indonesia over the past decade is impressive, there are issues of particular concern, mainly pertaining to religious intolerance, gender inequality, and environmental destruction. All these issues revolve around the various stakeholders in Indonesian society.
The 11th International Indonesia Forum Conference will focus on the various stakeholders in Indonesia and the natural and social environment of the country’s growth, including the effects the rise of Indonesia has had on underprivileged stakeholders. A plethora of research issues can contribute to the question of inclusive stakeholdership. How does the growth and development trajectory that Indonesia is on affect, for instance, women and their rights? How does it affect the ecology of Indonesia and the environment? How are people affected in rural regions or in inner cities and how are their ways of life affected? The transformation of Indonesia can be understood not only as spiritual, religious, economic, linguistic, political and social, but also very specifically as ecological and environmental.
The International Indonesia Forum once again welcomes the contributions of scholars working on various aspects related to this complex interaction of stakeholders in the growth of Indonesia to the 11th International Indonesia Forum, which will be held at Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana, Salatiga, from 16 to 17 July 2018.
